Thanks to the new ACT HD pressure plate design for the BMW E46, this is now our go-to clutch combination to pair with our BMW transmission upgrade kits. An OEM style E46 clutch kit is required for all of our K or BP to BMW flywheels.
Pedal effort with the new B015 pressure plate is light to moderate, and we suggest that most customers pair it with an organic sprung clutch disc for both street and track use. Engagement is smooth and has an OEM feel. This combination is rated at 465 ft/lbs and is the best configuration for 90% of customers.
Customers seeking the absolute lightest clutch disc possible for road race use only can select the four puck disc, either sprung or unsprung. Engagement is aggressive, and unsprung disc users will experience additional gear rattle. This combination is rated at 596 ft/lbs. Four puck discs will wear very quickly with street driving.
For drag applications and very high horsepower cars that see both the street and track, we recommend a sprung 6 puck disc. While engagement is still aggressive, this setup is a bit more streetable and more durable than the 4 puck. This setup is also rated for 596 ft/lbs.
All clutches ship with a pressure plate and clutch disc of your choice, along with a clutch alignment tool. You have the option to add a release bearing or pilot bearing depending on your application. Our flywheels include a pre-installed pilot bearing, and K series to ZF 5-speed users use our supplied release bearing, so an OEM release bearing is not needed. BP engine users will need to add a release bearing.
For lower power applications, check out the OEM LuK clutch kit.
