This kit now includes our new aluminum oil pan! It's lightweight, offers better cooling capability, and has an improved baffle design. This new pan is TIG welded inside and out, and pressure tested for leaks. After welding, the flange is machined again for a precise fit.
The purpose of this pan, pickup, and adapter is to provide adequate clearance for the Miata steering rack. We took this opportunity to provide an upgraded oiling solution for our customers to better handle a rigorous road racing environment.
Our oiling system works in conjunction with an OEM RSX-S oil pump setup (sold separately). A custom 6.5 quart road race oil pan is supplied that includes baffles, two trap doors, a kickout on the driver side to boost oil capacity, two drain plugs, and an oil overflow plug. The pan is specifically designed to accommodate the Miata steering rack below it.
For inside the pan, customers are supplied with an RSX-S oil pump adapter and new pickup tube. These pieces replace half of the factory oil pump, and allow the pickup to be routed over the steering rack. The pump adapter is CNC machined from 6061 aluminum and is anodize hard coated to resist wear inside the pump.
Our extensive testing has shown consistent oil pressure through sustained right and left hand corners on a number of race tracks.
